Bladder or prostatic catheters. Sterile flexible silicone tubes that, in urinary catheterization, are passed through the urethra and into the bladder for the purpose of draining urine. They are Nelaton catheters to which a balloon, a thin conduit and a valve have been added that allows this balloon to be inflated and provide self-retention in the bladder. They are intended for prolonged use.
The catheter gauge is expressed according to the French Charrière scale (Ch), with one Ch equivalent to 0.33 mm.
