The Guedel tube, or oropharyngeal airway, is a plastic device which, when inserted into the patient’s mouth, prevents the tongue from falling back and the subsequent obstruction of the airway.
Different models are available.
Description
Indications:
- Used during general anesthesia to maintain open oropharyngeal airways.
- During epileptic seizures, it prevents tongue biting and maintains open oropharyngeal airways, thereby preventing the risk of suffocation.
Features:
- Latex-free.
- They feature a colored nylon reinforcement for identification and to prevent obstruction.
- Its length in centimeters is inscribed numerically.
- Non-sterile.
