Cervical Collars

When Should I Use a Collar?

A collar should be used in cases of cervical pain, postoperative recovery, or after having suffered an accident.

When there is tension in the muscles that leads to spasms.

The collar allows the muscle to relax, circulation to improve, and consequently pain to decrease as well.

Any recommendations?

  • Choose the correct size: measure the vertical distance from the top of the shoulder to the tip of the chin.
  • Normally, it should be worn while sleeping, following the physician’s instructions.
  • When sitting, always ensure that the neck and back are fully supported against the seat.

The use of the collar must always be under the supervision of a medical professional, monitoring the duration of use and the type of collar recommended for each case.

What types are available?

  • Collar soft or semi-rigid: these provide very limited restriction of neck mobility. They help support the head comfortably, allowing muscles and joints to rest.

  • Rigid collar: provides greater immobilization of the neck. Indicated in cases of more severe cervical pathologies, where pain does not subside with rest. Within this category, there are models with and without chin support.
